{All About the Band}

UTAH! formed in the Kalamazoo student ghetto of Western Michigan University in 1998. Ed Pellino and Mickey D'Loughy, long time friends and roommates, along with the now ex-bass player Eric Singer were looking for a little something different, enter Anne Polesnak, K-zoo's rock and roll cellist. With influences such as jazz, bossa nova, Gastro del Sol, and rock n' roll they took K-zoo by storm packing local bars with friends and fans alike. They had a chance to record with Bob Weston in Chicago through Arborvitae records producing K-Zoo Sounds and Destructovision, their debut album. They played with the likes of Guided by Voices, Sweep the Leg Johnny, Ultimate Fakebook, & Red Shirt Brigade +

Upon graduation they relocated to Raleigh, NC, losing Eric in the process, but gaining a new perspective as an equally dynamic trio. Their enthusiasm is contagious and their talent is undefinable, as Raleigh soon found out. Making friends wherever they go, pidgeon english records helped out with a dual 7" with another Raleigh group, "the Rosebuds." With a stint at the CMJ Music Festival 2002 in the basement of CBGB's and then finally ending up with Bifocal Media, they kicked out a second CD in 2003, Utah! Plays Well with Others and they do. From the very first 7" along side fellow K-zoo rockers Beowulf, through snow storm ridden tours, to Barking Tuna Fest with Guided by Voices, these kids have more than proven their worth to an oversaturated indie scene, littered with copy-cats and lackluster pop melodies.

UTAH! s star is rising, having filmed a video in LA, courtesy of Bifocal Media, watch for them on music TV near you. Often rocking crowds at the local King's Barcade, the live sets are the best. (check out the videos on their site) their music was recently licensed out to "411" skate video mag and the extreme sports show "FUEL TV." They kick off a tour for the latest CD March 18th, watch for them at a venue near you, it promises to be one helluva time.
